Description from the seller

Chinese teapot carrier (caddy/warmer) from the late 19th century (Qing dynasty). This unique object was formerly used to transport teapots and to keep the tea warm.
The caddy is hexagonal and completely handmade. It is made of wood with a distinctive deep red lacquer and features beautiful, detailed wood carving. The panels show classical scenes with figures and floral motifs.
China, late 19th century (Qing dynasty). Around 1880, 29 cm high, 25 cm wide and 20 cm deep. Hand-cut wood, traditional lacquerwork and brass bands. Equipped with a spout opening at the top for pouring. In reasonable antique condition with beautiful patina.
The wooden top plate (lid) and inner lining are missing and there are some damages, therefore offered as poor condition but it remains a remarkable object and still valuable. However, it is still a unique decorative piece today or, for example, as a plant holder.
