Gold solidus struck during the reign of Emperor Leontius (AD 695–698), one of the short-lived rulers of the Byzantine Empire during the late 7th century. Coins of this emperor are scarce due to his brief reign, making them desirable among collectors of Byzantine and ancient gold coinage.

Reverse: Potent cross on steps with surrounding legend.

Details:
Metal: Gold (AV Solidus)
Weight: 4.19 g
Period: Byzantine Empire, AD 695–698
Certification: NGC Ancients
Grade: MS (Mint State)

This coin is encapsulated and authenticated by NGC Ancients, ensuring its authenticity and preservation. Despite the noted characteristics typical for ancient coins, the piece retains strong historical presence and attractive gold surfaces.
A genuine Byzantine gold solidus from the turbulent late 7th century, representing the brief rule of Emperor Leontius and an excellent addition to any ancient coin collection.
