Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
First Quality Malachite natural sphere with botryoidal and banded structure from Congo, 67 mm in diameter and 611 g in weight.
Description from the seller
Sphere carved from a single large block of natural malachite from the Congo, an area known for the quality and chromatic intensity of this mineral. The material was selected for compactness and structural variety, then worked and polished to best enhance the natural pattern.
The surface shows a well-defined combination of structures: in the upper part there are fluid, layered concentric bands, while in the lower part a typical botryoidal weave develops, composed of compact globular aggregates. The transition zone between these two morphologies is particularly evident and represents a feature of great collecting interest.
The tones range from deep, intense green to lighter, more translucent shades, with natural contrasts generated by the mineral’s growth in an oxidative environment. In some areas small voids and granular variations are visible, authentic testimony to the formation process.
Malachite is a basic copper carbonate, formed by alteration of primary minerals in the presence of solutions rich in carbon dioxide. The botryoidal and banded structures derive from different deposition conditions, which are directly reflected in the visible pattern.
A specimen suitable for mineral and natural object collectors, with a strong aesthetic impact and good readability of the internal structures.
Technical data:
Mineral: Natural malachite
Origin: Congo
Form: Polished sphere
Structure: Botryoidal and banded
Conditions: Excellent overall condition
Treatments: None, only cutting and polishing
Use: Collection / display / natural décor
