Antique openwork silver sugar sifter.

The Netherlands - 1847

The bowl is finely pierced (ajour) and is shell shaped. The handle is slender and elegantly designed, with subtle floral detailing at the terminal. This type of spoon was traditionally used for sprinkling sugar over desserts, fruit, or pastries.

Hallmarked on the handle and in the bowl with a lion passant, the date letter “N,” for 1847, a maker’s mark, and a Minerva head.
