According to Nikon’s own press release, Nikon Vision Co., Ltd. introduced the new EDG models in 8×32, 10×32, 7×42, 8×42 and 10×42 configurations on March 12, 2010.
The EDG series was intended as Nikon’s top-tier binocular line, above the then High-Grade (HG/LX) models.
The introduction was seen as Nikon’s attempt to directly compete with Europe’s top brands (Zeiss, Leica, Swarovski).
