Description from the seller
THE DESERTER by Jean Giono. The first volume of the series "The Signs of Man" was printed in December 1972 under the direction of Valerio Leschiera. The translation of Giono's text is by Patrizio Bocconi. The type used is Bodoni. The blue laid paper with untrimmed edges is from Miliani Paper Mills of Fabriano. This volume belongs to the second special edition of one thousand copies reserved for Franco Maria Ricci's bibliophiles friends. At the end: list of works and reproduction of Brun's documents, including recipes and instructions for painting.
Volume in the original case. Binding in black silk with titles impressed in gold and photo-application on the cover.
In the 1966 text Jean Giono narrates the story of Charles Frédéric Brun called “the Deserter,” a French painter who lived in Valais from 1850 to 1871 painting religious pictures to earn a living.
The book has always been kept on my bookshelf; reopened now for the photographs.
Like new, absolutely perfect for a collection.
