Description from the seller
2006 Mercedes-Benz S500 L (W221) - AMG Package
OVERVIEW
Presenting a remarkable example of the Mercedes-Benz S500 Long Wheelbase, originally manufactured in 2006 and exported directly to Japan in 2007. This vehicle was a special-order "Left-Hand Drive" (LHD) model, a significant status symbol in the Japanese market. With only 88,894 km on the odometer, this V8-powered flagship has been maintained to the highest standards, reflecting the rigorous "Shaken" inspection culture of Japan.
BODY & PAINT
Condition: The paintwork is in excellent condition, finished in a deep black that retains a brilliant shine. The car is accident-free and shows no signs of rust or significant cosmetic wear.
Details: All rubber seals, chrome trims, and windows are well-preserved. The factory AMG styling package remains intact and gives the car a timeless, aggressive stance.
Structure: No past welding or repairs; the body is original and structurally sound.
TECHNICAL CONDITION
Engine & Gearbox: The 5.5L V8 engine (388 HP) and gearbox perform flawlessly, providing the smooth, effortless power expected of an S-Class.
Suspension: For ultimate peace of mind and "S-Class comfort," the entire suspension system has been overhauled. This includes new shock absorbers, air bags (springs), and a new compressor. While the old system functioned, it was replaced due to age to ensure a factory-new ride quality.
Exhaust: Features an original AMG exhaust system modified in Japan for a more pronounced, sporty V8 sound.
Wheels: The car currently sits on 21-inch original AMG summer wheels. Additionally, the sale includes the original 19-inch factory setup with brand-new summer tires.
Performance: Starts and drives perfectly in all conditions.
Interior Condition
INTERIOR
Upholstery & Cabin: The interior is in pristine condition. The leather seats, headliner, and dashboard show minimal wear, consistent with the low mileage.
Electricals: All features, including the climate control, infotainment system, electric seats, and gauges, are fully functional with no warning lights or errors.
Configuration: Factory Left-Hand Drive (LHD), making it perfectly suited for European roads despite its Japanese history.
Documentation and History
OTHER INFORMATION
Provenance: One owner in Japan from 2007 until its export. Imported to Germany in 2025 and subsequently registered in Romania.
Status: Currently holds Romanian registration (black plates) with all taxes and documents up to date.
Maintenance: Exceptionally well-maintained in Japan with a history of strict annual inspections. It was purchased for enthusiast road trips, a role it has fulfilled perfectly without any mechanical issues.
LOCATION & COLLECTION
Location: The vehicle is located in the Moldavia region of Romania, specifically in the city of Bacău
Collection: Local pickup is preferred. The car is currently registered with Romanian plates, and all documents are ready for a smooth ownership transfer.
Transport Assistance: I can assist the buyer in organizing professional vehicle transport across Europe at the buyer's expense. The city of Bacău is well-connected and easily accessible for international car carrier trailers.
Viewing: Inspections are welcome by appointment. The car is kept in a dry, protected environment and is ready for any professional test.
Note to Bidders: This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, enthusiast-maintained S500 L in a collector-grade condition, featuring a freshly refreshed suspension and the highly desirable factory AMG package.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
