Description from the seller
Monumental architectural glass floor lamp – Postmodern design – 1980s – 128 cm – 17.9 kg
This monumental architectural floor lamp from the late 70s / 80s is a distinctive example of postmodern design in which sculpture and functionality merge.
The construction consists of 55 individual solid glass blocks (10 × 5 cm, thickness ca. 1.8–2 cm), carefully assembled into a spiral, rhythmic composition around a central metal column. The geometric linework and the layered structure give the object a strong vertical dynamic and a pronounced spatial presence.
With a weight of 17.9 kg, this piece belongs to the heavier, high-quality implementations within this type of architectural glass design.
The glass base is built from two square plates with four glass feet, combining stability with refined transparency.
The lamp functions both as a light source and a sculptural statement piece. Without a shade it reveals its minimalist, graphic character; with a carefully chosen shade, it can be adapted to a variety of interior styles (modern, minimalist, luxurious, or eclectic).
Specifications
• Total height (excluding the lamp): 128 cm
• Height of the glass section: 110 cm
• Glass blocks: 10 × 5 cm
• Glass thickness: ca. 1.8–2 cm
• Weight: 17.9 kg
• Socket: E27
Condition
Good vintage condition.
There are small chips on a few corners of the glass base (see detail photo). These are limited, consistent with the age and do not affect stability or use.
Normal signs of use consistent with age.
A powerful and rare architectural object that fits perfectly within the postmodern design aesthetics.
