A French Art Nouveau wrought-iron lamp with a green opaline glass shade, measuring 50 x 35 x 50 cm, in good used condition with minor signs of age and in working order.
Description from the seller
This antique lamp from the first half of the 20th century combines the delicacy of hand-worked iron with the almost hypnotic intensity of green opaline crystal. It is a piece that breathes that decorative taste inherited from the end of the century, when metal curved into elegant scrolls and light was conceived as an almost theatrical element inside the home.
The gilded iron structure, with its warm and slightly aged patina, draws an ornamental framework full of curves, stylized leaves, and small details that reveal meticulous craftsmanship. It is not uniform gilding: it has nuances, some areas more subdued, others brighter, which gives it depth and character.
The opaline glass shade, in an intense and luminous green, is the visual heart of the piece. Its smooth, glossy surface contrasts with the metal's texture, and when one imagines the lamp lit, it is easy to think of a soft, enveloping light, almost emerald, that transforms the ambience.
The lower finial and the upper chain complete the composition with an air of a bourgeois drawing-room lamp or a stately corridor lamp, a piece designed to be viewed from below, suspended as a small everyday luxury object.
Tracked shipping and careful packaging.
