Description from the seller
These early-to-mid 20th-century andirons have that elegant solidity typical of traditional forged iron, combined with a decorative touch that makes them stand out beyond their practical function. The structure is organized into a twisted vertical body, worked with that helical twist that reveals the blacksmith’s hand and adds dynamism to a piece that, at heart, is pure stability.
At the top, the metal balls — brass or bronze — introduce a warm contrast against the deep black of the iron. This finial is typical of andirons inspired by classical design: a small gesture of nobility in an object intended for the fire.
The front legs, open in broad curves and slightly hammered, display craftsmanship that does not seek geometric perfection but presence. They have visual weight, character, and that minimal irregularity that makes each piece unique. The rear bar, more sober, serves its function of supporting the logs without diminishing the front decorative display.
They are andirons that speak of lived-in chimneys, long winters, and a taste for things well made. Functional pieces, yes, but also aesthetic, capable of imparting a traditional and authentic atmosphere to any home.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
