Description from the seller

Beautiful Chinese porcelain ginger jar with a craquelé glaze on a wooden base. The jar is hand-painted with motifs of flowers and birds, including phoenixes, which often carry seasonal meanings in Chinese art. The craquelé effect in the glaze is an intentional decorative technique. Originally used for storing ginger, these jars are now often used as decorative accents in interiors. This ginger jar was made around 1900 and the lid has been restored with a period repair.

Dimensions: 14 x 12.5 x 12.5 cm without base
