Very compact Pro-Ject DAC/headphone amplifier, hi-res compatible, it plays PCM files up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD512 files. MQA decoding is also included. Inside the S2, the prized ESS Sabre ES9038 dual DAC chip stands out, paired with a new Optimum Transient digital filter and a proprietary clock circuit for near-total elimination of jitter, reaching the remarkable value of 100 femtoseconds (1 femtosecond is one billionth of a second). The capacitors used are organic polymer, and the resistors chosen are the expensive thin-film miniMELF. Seven digital filters onboard allow you to shape the sound to the preferences of any listener, while the dynamic range (up to 129 dB) and a total harmonic distortion plus noise of 120 dB (THD+N) are specified.
