Set of two cut-crystal perfume flasks with solid silver mounts (.835), dating to circa 1880, with a total weight of 950 g and dimensions 9 × 9 × 20 cm, produced in the United Kingdom and in as-new condition.
Description from the seller
Set of two perfume flasks of cut crystal with silver mount – ca. 1880
An elegant set of two marked perfume flasks made from fine cut crystal, each fitted with a solid silver mount with a silver content of .835. The decorative flasks date from circa 1880 and showcase the craftsmanship characteristic of luxury boudoirs from the late 19th century.
The crystal is richly cut with facets and decorative patterns, causing the light to be beautifully refracted and the bottles to have a sparkling appearance. The silver mounts form a refined framing and provide a stylish combination of glass and precious metal, as was often used at that time for table accessories for oil, vinegar or other condiments.
On the silver there are multiple silver marks, indicating official assay and provenance, though these marks are not clearly legible. Together these flasks form a charming and decorative ensemble that was both functional at the dressing table and an expression of wealth and taste.
