Signed first edition French hardcover catalogue titled Rétrospective by William Klein (Centre Pompidou / Marval), 380 pages, 35 x 25.5 cm, published in 2005, with dust jacket, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Extremely rare signed and inscribed volume by William Klein (1926 - 2022) from this catalogue of the major retrospective exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. 380 pages, about 180 photographs in black and white and in color, most on double-page spreads in large format (35 cm x 50 cm) with captions and dates at the end of the book. French text by Alain Sayag, interview with William Klein by Quentin Bajac, and a few texts excerpted from William Klein’s books. Sturdy publisher’s hardcover with William Klein’s facsimile signature and title on the spine and illustrated dust jacket. In excellent condition.
William Klein was born in 1928 in New York, but he has spent most of his life in France where he still lives, and the Centre National d’Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou paid him a fitting tribute in 2005 with this photographic exhibition, which is also punctuated by the major books he published: New York (1956), Rome (1959), Moscow and Tokyo (1964), Paris (2002), which profoundly influenced photographers around the world, especially the next generation who followed him closely.
Exemplary in excellent condition with only the slightest wear to the dust jacket (see photo). A personal collection book kept with the greatest care. Protected shipment with reinforced packing and insured international postal tracking. For multiple purchases, grouped shipping with reimbursement of any excess postage paid via PayPal.
