Portuguese hallmark, 19th century, 800/000, and the corresponding date mark.
Offered at auction, an elegant Portuguese solid silver platter from the 19th century, beautifully decorated with a combination of engraved motifs and raised floral ornaments. The design features radiant petal-shaped segments, each engraved with a stylized foliate pattern, framed by roses and finely molded buds along the outer edge.
This type of craftsmanship is characteristic of 19th-century Portuguese silversmithing, known for its rich ornamental details and the harmonious balance between engraving and relief work.
The platter has a slightly concave center, making it suitable both as a decorative piece and as a small serving plate.
