Alain Gaubert is a French designer and cabinetmaker renowned for his modern furniture creations, notably in the mid-20th century style.
The "Shoggi" is a small meditation seat or perch designed by Alain Gaubert in 1983. Its name and its shape are directly inspired by the traditional position of the judoka on the tatami, as well as the short Japanese benches used for sitting at a table or meditating.
