Description from the seller
A large collection of diverse, rare, and highly sought-after stove bolts (Irons), such as the Sylvester patent bolt (Salter), and also unique 'wedding dowry' stove bolts bearing the initials of the marrying couple, namely MH and J M.
The production of cast-iron stove bolts began around 1840 and continued until the First World War in 1914, because after that gas-heated irons became fashionable, causing production of this type of irons to be rapidly discontinued. The offered stove bolts date from the 19th century; around 1880 and later.
For an impression of and the quality of these, among which are more than 150-year-old 'Irons', see the photos. The features: numbers and manufacturers are mostly still clearly visible; some stove bolts have developed pitting in the iron due to use (heating and cooling).
Two of the stove bolts are marriage gifts from the era on which the initials of the bride and groom are worked: J.M and the intertwined letters MH in the steel attest to this. (rare, unique).
