Description from the seller

The Mbala (also Gimbala, Rumbala) number about two hundred thousand people and live in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, spread across Bandundu Province, in the Bagata and Bulungu regions, between the Kwango and Kwilu rivers.

Images of this small people are therefore rare in Europe. Their somewhat rustic style nonetheless radiates a considerable strength and leaves a lasting impression. Some features recall the sculptures and masks of the Chokwe, their distant neighbors.
