Description from the seller
Rare Set of 6 French Crystal Goblets – Star and Garland Decoration – Early 1900s
Splendid Belle Époque: Set of 6 Molded Crystal Goblets and Hand-Engraved
We offer an exclusive place setting comprising 6 fine crystal goblets, made in France at the dawn of the 20th century. This set perfectly embodies the refined taste of French noble dining tables of the early 1900s.
The peculiarity of these glasses lies in the combination of several decorative techniques carried out entirely by hand:
The Decoration: The bowl is adorned with a double horizontal band of elegant linked ovals framing a central star (or sun) motif finely chased. The stars are alternated with a wavy line that adds movement and lightness to the design.
The Stem: Characterized by a baluster stem with a full drop-shaped (or bulb) central node, which not only guarantees a secure grip but also reflects light spectacularly.
The Shape: An open tulip-shaped cup, versatile and noble, ideal for fine wines or conversation liqueurs.
Main Features:
Origin: France – Prestigious Manufacture
Era: Early 1900s (circa 1900-1915).
Condition: Excellent. The crystal is clear, free of opacities, and retains its typical crystal ringing to the touch.
Craftsmanship: Each goblet is a unique piece as the engravings are done freehand on a wheel, demonstrating artisanal skill today exceedingly rare.
The absence of an acid mark confirms dating to the early century (an era when only paper labels were used). The complexity of the engraving and the purity of the crystal mass make this set an artistic investment as well as a piece of extremely classy furniture.
Height 14 cm
Ø opening 8.6 cm
Ø base 7.7 cm.
