Patinated bronze sculpture in the Art Deco style, estimated to date from the 1920s–1930s.
Description from the seller
Large bronze seal stamp – male nude – Art Deco – in the manner of Arno Breker – 1920s/30s – rare!!
Exceptionally expressive and rare seal stamp in solid bronze, designed as a full sculptural male nude with impressive presence and quality.
The powerful figure captivates with outstanding anatomical detailing – finely modeled musculature, precisely worked extremities, as well as an overall tense yet calm body posture that testify to great artistic skill. Particularly to be highlighted are the natural form of the feet, harmonious proportions, and the vividly living surface treatment.
Stylistically the work clearly stands in the tradition of the neoclassical monumental style of the 1920s–30s and, in its clear, idealized formal language, recalls the works of Arno Breker. A direct attribution is not established, but the proximity to the stylistic language of this era is unmistakable.
The bronze shows a rare, aged patina that gives the object a special depth and authenticity. In combination with the high-quality execution, much points to manual manufacture, presumably produced in a small edition or as a unique piece.
The underside seal plate with monogram adds an individual character to the object and underscores its original function as a representative seal stamp – today however also to be understood as an autonomous art sculpture with decorative effect.
Dating: probably 1920s–30s
Origin: probably German
Material: solid bronze with brass seal plate
A rare collectible with strong aura – suitable for lovers of classical nude depictions as well as connoisseurs of early 20th-century art.
Condition: This authentic and rare bronze object is, both in surface and usability terms, in good and collectible condition (see photos)!
