Jean Garrigues was active in Tunisia at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, in a context of photographic growth linked to the protectorate and the development of tourism. Photographer and publisher, he produced urban views, scenes of daily life, and portraits distributed as prints and postcards.
His work is characterized by clear, bright light and a straightforward composition, attentive to architecture, markets, and local figures, through a body of work that is both documentary and commercial.
