Description from the seller

Circa 1880, 22x28 cm.
"Visite de cimetière" (Cemetery Visit), a very beautiful late nineteenth-century portrait by the Zangaki brothers.
Very fine vintage albumen print in very good condition, mounted on a cardboard backing.
Excellent preservation of contrasts, gray tones and levels of detail.
Labeled and signed in the negative.

The Zangaki brothers (Georges and Constantin Zangaki) are photographers of Greek origin active in Egypt in the last decades of the 19th century, mainly between the 1870s and 1890s. They primarily worked in the regions of the Suez Canal, the Nile, and the major archaeological sites frequented by European travelers. Their work is set against the backdrop of the development of tourism in Egypt after the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869.

Will be shipped with its slipcase and cardboard backing on neutral pH (ideal for a collection in good condition).
