AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Circa 1880, 22x28 cm. "Fellahs porteuses d'eau", a very beautiful portrait from the end of the nineteenth century attributed to JP. Sebah. A very fine albumen print, large-format and period-correct, in very good condition, mounted on a cardboard backing. Excellent preservation of contrasts, gray tones, and levels of detail. Numbered in the negative.

Jean-Paul Sebah (1872–1947) was a photographer active in Istanbul, heir to an important dynasty of photographers established in the Ottoman Empire. He is the son of the famous photographer Pascal Sébah, who had founded in the 1850s one of the most renowned photographic studios in Constantinople.
A small PR conservatoire, not to be missed.

Will be shipped with its sleeve and its neutral-pH cardboard backing (ideal for a collection in good condition).
