AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Circa 1900, 21x26cm.
"Femmes de Biskra", a very beautiful portrait from the end of the nineteenth century (Algeria), attributed to E. Frechon.
Very beautiful vintage silver print from the period in very good condition, mounted on cardboard.
Very good preservation of contrasts, gray nuances and levels of detail.
Labeled by hand on the cardboard mount.

Émile Frechon (1848–1921) was a French photographer active in North Africa, notably in Biskra.
He is distinguished by his scenes of daily life and his portraits, blending documentary gaze and aesthetic sense.
Close to pictorialism, he works light and composition with great finesse.
His body of work moves away from simple exotism to lean toward a more human and nuanced vision.

Will be shipped with its sleeve and its neutral pH cardboard mount (ideal for a collection kept in good condition).
