"Enfants de Biskra", a very beautiful portrait from the late nineteenth century (Algeria), attributed to E. Frechon.
A very fine silver gelatin print in large format and from the period, in very good condition, mounted on a cardboard backing (some foxing along the edges).
Excellent preservation of contrasts, gray tones and levels of detail.

Émile Frechon (1848–1921) was a French photographer active in North Africa, notably in Biskra.
He stands out for his scenes of daily life and his portraits, blending documentary look with aesthetic sense.
Close to pictorialism, he works with light and composition with great finesse.
His work moves away from simple exotism to a more humane and nuanced vision.

It will be shipped with its sleeve and neutral-pH cardboard backing (ideal for a collection in good condition).
