"Villageoises de Biskra", a very beautiful group portrait from the late nineteenth century (Algeria), attributed to E. Frechon.
Very beautiful albumen large-format print from the period in very good condition, mounted on a cardboard backing (slight foxing on the edges).
Excellent preservation of contrasts, gray nuances and levels of detail.

Émile Frechon (1848–1921) was a French photographer active in North Africa, notably in Biskra.
He is distinguished by his scenes of daily life and his portraits, blending documentary gaze with aesthetic sense.
Close to pictorialism, he works light and composition with great finesse.
His work moves away from simple exoticism to a more humane and nuanced vision.
It will be shipped with its sleeve and its cardboard backing on neutral pH (ideal for a collection in good condition).
