Description from the seller

Circa 1870, 21x27 cm.
"Egyptian Barber", a very beautiful portrait from the late 19th century, attributed to the Zangaki brothers.
A very fine large-format albumen print from the period, in very good condition, mounted on a cardboard backing.
Excellent preservation of contrasts, grayscale nuances and detail levels.

The Zangaki Brothers (Georges and Constantin Zangaki) were photographers of Greek origin active in Egypt in the last decades of the 19th century, mainly between the 1870s and 1890s. They worked primarily in the regions of the Suez Canal, the Nile, and the major archaeological sites frequented by European travelers. Their body of work reflects the development of tourism in Egypt following the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869.

It will be shipped with its sleeve and its neutral-pH cardboard backing (ideal for a collection in good condition).
