Delft blue tulip vase in white cream earthenware, bol-shaped with seven tulip openings, Delft-style cobalt blue decoration, 17 cm high and 17 cm in diameter, dating to 1990–2000, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Beautiful and typically Dutch, globe-shaped tulip vase made of white/cream earthenware with 7 openings for tulips or other flowers, in Delft blue decoration, wonderfully adorned with sprigs of cornflowers, made after an 18th-century example.
Obviously suitable for tulips or roses, but even without flowers it is a jewel on the table, on a cabinet or by the fireplace.
In very good condition with anti-scratch felt pads under the feet.
A characterful and decorative tulip vase in classic Delft style, executed in white ceramic with refined cobalt blue floral motifs. This special object references an age-old Dutch tradition in which tulip vases were not only functional flower containers, but also genuine showpieces in the interior.
Tulip vases originated in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, a period in which tulips were extraordinarily valuable and prestigious. By using multiple spouts, tulips could be presented individually without the delicate stems touching each other. This made the vase type an iconic symbol of the Dutch ceramics tradition.
This piece combines that historical form with a decoration inspired by classic Delft blue. The refined floral patterns in deep cobalt blue contrast beautifully with the bright white background. The decoration is applied with care and gives the object an elegant and timeless appearance.
Because of its sculptural form and rich decoration, this tulip vase is both functional and decorative. Even without flowers it forms a striking focal point in an interior, display cabinet or on a laid table.
Tulip vases remain beloved collectibles and are a recognizable part of Dutch ceramics history. This piece brings that tradition to life in a stylish and accessible way.
