Description from the seller
Mix of rough natural minerals
Ruby Tanzanite Ethiopian Opal
Ruby is the name given to the red variety of the mineral corundum. Because of the small amounts of chromium, the red hue of these crystals ranges from deep violet to deep blood red. The gem is a very hard crystal, which makes it ideal for use as a precious stone. The name comes from the Latin "ruber", meaning "red".
The "ruby-lapis lazuli" is one of the rarest and therefore most precious gems. Diamond, emerald, sapphire and ruby are known as the "Big Four" of the gemstone world. The ruby is undoubtedly the fiery and capricious diva of the quartet.
In ancient times, the ruby was considered the mother of all precious stones. Hildegard of Bingen used its healing powers to treat pain and fever. It was believed that changes in the color of the stone were an omen of plague.
At one time the ruby was the stone of rulers and nobles. It was said to give vitality to the wearer and allow them to enjoy life to the fullest.
