Description from the seller
This antique tableware is a collection of asparagus plates from the renowned French manufacturer Longchamp, specifically the Velars model. These plates are terre de fer (fine earthenware) pieces painted by hand, characterized by their multicolored floral design and a cobalt blue relief edge with arabesque motifs and acanthus leaves in cobalt blue. All plates are engraved with their authenticity registration.
Manufacturer: Faïencerie de Longchamp, France.
Model: VELARS.
Era: Circa 1915 - 1920.
Material: White ceramic (terre de fer) with hand-painted finishes.
Features: They feature integrated compartments; the smallest one is usually used to serve sauces or melted butter that accompanies the asparagus.
These plates are exclusive for collectors and table art lovers. They are not new, with over 100 years of age, preserving vivid tones in the pattern without breaks, notable slight patina tones of age in the varnish and cracking and wear in compartments typical of their age and use.
They are old asparagus plates made of Terre de Fer (iron earthenware) around 1915-1920. They feature a deep royal blue border in relief and very well-detailed hand-painted floral motifs.
They have a special compartment designed to place the sauce or butter when serving asparagus.
