Mercedes 219 Ponton from 1959 with a 2,195 cc six‑cylinder petrol engine offering around 100 hp, manual transmission, black exterior, 13,580 km, registered with a Swedish license plate, MOT valid to 2099-12-31, service history present, CoC not present, located in the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
A classic Mercedes 219, this model is known as W105, and also as the “Big Ponton” with a six-cylinder straight-six engine. In itself rare, it is a model positioned between the smaller W120 Ponton series and the larger S 220 class. The father of the last Swedish owner bought the car in 1963; at that time the car had had only one previous owner since it was built in 1959. Since the family bought the car, all receipts have been kept and virtually every fuel fill has been documented. Every summer the family went on holiday to the Torne Valley in Sweden and they also made trips with the car to the Netherlands and England. In the mid-1980s a newer car was purchased and the Mercedes mostly stood in a heated garage. The family also bought a donor car, which supplied many of the spare parts that come with the Mercedes.
The Mercedes has until a few weeks ago always driven in Sweden; recently it has been exported to the Netherlands.
.
Documents:
The car can be supplied with Swedish EU Export documents for an extra 50 euros, so that a potential foreign new owner can easily register the car in his/her country
Body:
Somewhere in the 1980s the car underwent rust repairs and was repainted. Aluminum inner fenders were made to reduce the risk of new rust and a stainless steel exhaust system was installed, which is still under the car today.
The underside is quite good, albeit somewhat dirty (sand, the family lived on a dirt road) and can undoubtedly be improved.
Technical:
In 1995 the last Swedish owner took over the family heirloom and since then has driven it only about 5,000 km. The fuel pump and radiator were overhauled a few years ago and in 2025 the brake shoes, wheel cylinders, master brake cylinder and carburetor were overhauled. The 219 brakes well, steers well, starting is a little hesitant, but once it reaches operating temperature it functions fine.
The Mercedes comes with several boxes of spare parts, documentation consisting of receipts and inspection reports (see photos) and three sets of keys.
Interior:
Over time the headliner became ugly, so the owner sewed a new headliner that is still in the car. He also installed retractable seat belts for extra safety. The interior is neat, with signs of use. The fuel gauge works a little hesitantly.
The seller has many contacts domestically and abroad, and can help you with addresses where possible new/used parts are sold.
Transport:
The car is located in Hengevelde, the Netherlands and can of course be picked up here. The car can be delivered within the Netherlands for an extra 150 euros (excluding VAT) (excluding the Wadden Islands).
For foreign bidders:
Delivery/transport:
The seller can have the car delivered relatively cheaply across the entire EU by a professional transporter.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
