Description from the seller
Presentation of the Lot:
Elegant two-body trumeau sideboard, made in Italy in the mid-20th century in perfect Louis XV style (Baroque). The piece features a solid walnut structure, fully veneered and enriched with refined inlays in maple and fruitwoods.
Structure Analysis:
Upper Body (Alzata): Characterized by a wavy and breakfront crest. The two doors have central inlaid panels with motifs of a "gallant scene" (figures in bucolic landscapes) surrounded by floral frames. Inside there are shaped shelves.
Middle Body (Ribalta): The drop-front door, also richly inlaid with a central medallion, opens to reveal a small cabinet with four tiny drawers and a central compartment. The writing surface is wide and functional.
Lower Body (Base): Follows the wavy line of the structure with three large front drawers. The base ends with saber feet typical of the eighteenth-century style.
Technical Details and Condition:
Hardware: Original handles and escutcheons in cast bronze and chiselled with rocaille motifs.
Conservation Status: The piece presents in excellent vintage condition. The structure is solid. There are light and normal signs of wear on the polish and small superficial scratches consistent with age (visible in the close-up photos), which do not impair its aesthetic value but testify to the authenticity of the period.
Keys: One functioning key present
