Centre table in solid walnut wood, in antique Renaissance style, dating to around 1900–1910, with a 111 cm width, 60 cm height and 50 cm depth, weighing 22.9 kg and in good condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Refined solid walnut centerpiece table (or wall table), characterized by rich, hand-carved decoration that echoes the taste of Italian Renaissance. The piece stands out for its structural solidity and elegant proportions, making it a striking furniture item.
Main Features:
Top: Rectangular with a finely worked edge in “dentellatura” or delicate beading, which gives dynamism to the upper profile.
Supports (Legs): The two side supports, vase- or lyre-shaped, are masterfully carved with acanthus leaf motifs, scrolls, and a central rosette.
Base: The legs rest on sturdy lion-paw bases, stylized as a symbol of nobility and strength in antique furniture.
Crosspiece: A shaped and carved crosspiece with a central medallion connects the two supports, ensuring structural stability and aesthetic continuity.
Conditions and Details:
The table is in generally good condition, with a magnificent natural patina that enhances the walnut grain.
There are some signs of wear and age consistent with its era (small superficial scratches on the top, as visible in photos).
Technical notes: The structure is solid. Classic worm-hole holes (now inactive) typical of ancient solid-wood furniture are present, testifying to authenticity and age. An initial restoration was performed by applying an insecticidal treatment and a double coat of oil.
The underside of the table shows the artisanal workmanship of the boards and the original reinforcements.
