w&d Downey - Photographies et image de Sarah Bernhardt

William and Daniel Downey were photographers based in Newcastle and London. Queen Victoria was photographed for the first time by an excellent Downey photographer from Newcastle on 22 September 1866; they established studios in London. They became known for their portraits of members of the royal family and of other notable figures.
In these prints and portraits we can see Sarah Bernhardt, born October 1844 in Paris and died March 1923 in Paris, a French actress, painter and sculptor. She is regarded as one of the most important French actresses of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
