Description from the seller

Due extraordinary and rare photographs of Don Giuseppe Capra, priest, a respected figure in Italy and abroad, a great traveler, explorer, missionary, photographer, geographer and lecturer at La Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Perugia.
The priest also published various reports on his travels, and essays on geography and economics. In 1939 he settled permanently in the Cascine di Pont-Saint-Martin and devoted himself to the compilation of geography school texts and to telling to young and old the adventures and misadventures he lived through in his countless journeys.
Prints in good condition, some slight signs in the corners, format 18 x 23, stamped on the back.

Shots taken during a trip to the United States on the occasion of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, informally known as the St. Louis World's Fair, an international exhibition held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, from April 30 to December 1, 1904. Local, state and federal funds totaling 15 million dollars (equivalent to 538 million dollars in 2025) were used to finance the event. More than 60 countries and 43 of the 45 American states at the time maintained exhibition spaces at the fair, which was visited by almost 19.7 million people.
The monumental Greco-Roman architecture of this and other fairs of the era contributed significantly to influencing the new permanent buildings and urban plans of the major cities.
