Description from the seller

19th-century Russian bronze travel icon, cast as a folding quadriptych, comprising four hinged panels with arched tops. The interior presents an exceptionally detailed array of Orthodox scenes in high relief, including the Crucifixion, feasts, and standing saints, all arranged in carefully structured registers. Each panel is finely worked with architectural motifs and Cyrillic inscriptions, reflecting traditional iconographic conventions.

The central sections anchor the composition, while the outer wings expand the narrative, creating a visually cohesive and spiritually immersive devotional object. The reverse features engraved ornament and inscriptions, consistent with pieces intended for personal travel and private worship.

Executed in solid bronze with a naturally aged patina, this substantial example weighs approximately 1325 grams and measures 40 x 17.5 cm fully opened (11 x 17.5 cm closed).
