Ancient heraldic seal in metal and wood – armorial matrix with lions – 18th/19th century
Seal wax stamp consisting of a turned patinated wooden handle, mounted on a circular metal matrix.
The matrix features a finely engraved heraldic design: a central shield bearing a cross motif (or stylized saltire), supported by two facing lions, within a rich ornamental surround (scrollwork and a stylized crown). The whole evokes a noble or bourgeois traditional blazon.
Nice impression visible on red wax, allowing appreciation of the engraving quality and the depth of relief.
Matrix dimensions: 2.5 cm x 2 cm
Condition: normal wear, homogeneous patina, legibility preserved
