UMEDA JAPAN EGG LAMP, model Kitty Swan, a red ABS plastic vintage lamp from Japan dating to the 1960s–1970s, produced in Osaka (Umeda), with a chrome telescopic arm and a compact form measuring 14 cm wide and 41 cm tall, in working order and used with small signs of age.
Description from the seller
The Kitty Swan lamp is a classic example of 1970s Japanese Space Age design. Produced in Osaka (Umeda), Japan, during the miniature electronic design boom of the 1970s in an Egg Lamp style, it is nicknamed the "egg" lamp because, when fully closed, it takes on a compact, smooth ovoid shape, typical of the era's futuristic aesthetic. The name "Swan" derives from the chrome-plated, telescopic and articulated arm that can be extended from the base, reminiscent of a swan's long neck.
It is very compact, with a height of about 13-14 cm when closed, but can extend to 45-46 cm when the arm is fully opened.
Power: It runs on a 12V high-intensity bulb (usually a 21-candlem equivalent auto/motorcycle bulb – 21CP), thanks to an internal transformer that steps down the mains voltage.
The outer shell is made of glossy ABS plastic (commonly in red, white, or black), while the telescopic frame is chrome-plated steel.
In addition to the red version pictured here for sale, it was produced in several color variants, including cream white and brown.
