HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION

The MG B: a popular sports car as it should be: lightweight, nimble and a pleasure to drive. This Roadster concerns a very beautiful and original specimen that is stunning in deep dark blue, beige mohair soft top, original chrome bumpers and spoke wheels with a classic look. Notably, this example was originally delivered in Switzerland in 1974. When it came to the Netherlands in 1984, the car has had only two owners.

The car has always been well maintained and that shows: it is in a very nice and original condition. A 2022 appraisal report is available for the car, as well as APK forms (the car is no longer required to have an APK). The MG features classic blue registration plates. Thanks in part to the optional overdrive, this is a genuine collector’s item.

EXTERIOR

In the past the car was restored, with the paintwork neatly repainted. The original fenders on the top of the body panels have been welded to prevent rust formation. The body is very neat and free of rust and damage. The red/orange paintwork stands out and looks particularly fresh.

Also the windows, rubbers and lighting are in good condition. The headlights come from Lucas. The chrome spoke wheels are fitted with Vredestein tires with ample tread. The original chrome bumpers are free of damage. The chrome work is in good condition with light signs of use.

INTERIOR

The black faux leather interior is still very nice without damage and exudes an English atmosphere. For safety, hip belts are installed. The steel dashboard and gauges are in decent condition. A fine accessory is the wooden Moto-Lita steering wheel and the wooden gear knob. Furthermore a radio-cassette player is installed. The trunk area is well-kept, fully equipped and provides space for the spare wheel.

TECHNICAL

The engine compartment looks well-kept and clean and accommodates the 1,798 cc 4-cylinder engine. The MG starts, drives and shifts well. Over the years the MG has been well maintained. In short: a magnificent example of an iconic car guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
