Description from the seller
Hanging console in precious walnut wood with a solid brass detail. Italian manufacture, second half of the 1940s.
Made in precious walnut wood, it is characterized by a morphology commonly referred to as a “violin” shape on the supporting surface. In the center of the concave profile, a small drawer for objects is enriched by a trapezoidal knob in solid brass. The evidently arched friezes are outlined at the top by Tuscan capitals and converge at the lower end, connected by a stylized finish.
Always placed in a noble residence and part of furnishings in rooms intended for guests, it has never been used. Considering that this piece was produced in the immediate postwar period, its condition is to be regarded as excellent and like new, i.e., free of any imperfections or deficiencies.
Basic, austere yet at the same time extremely refined, sinuous and elegant in its forms, today it can be confidently used as a decorative complement enriching any type of environment.
Rare to find on the antiques and design market, it is testimony to the research and project experimentation of what today is identified as the Mid Century Modern style, characterized by Minimalism, Functionality, Essential Lines and elegance.
As an accompaniment, the original, suitable attribution documentation prepared by Studio Peritale Diagnostico Alfredo Verdi Demma, with offices in Milan, Viterbo and Parma, will be attached.
Specific Dimensions:
Total height: 54.5 cm
Height of concave profile: 7.5 cm
Depth: 23.5 cm
Maximum width: 49.5 cm
Capacity of the object drawer: 17.5 cm x 13.5 cm
Diameter of the solid brass knob: 2 cm
Weight: 7 kg
