Set of 6 Vintage Japanese Planes (Kanna) - Hand-forged Steel - Traditional Woodworking
Item Description:
This is a professional set of 6 traditional Japanese hand planes, known as Kanna (鉋). The collection includes various specialized types:
- Standard finishing planes (Hira-ganna / 平鉋)
- Specialized joinery planes for grooving and shoulder work (Wakitor-iganna / 脇取り鉋)
- Narrow profile planes for detail work.
The blades are made of high-quality hand-forged laminated steel (carbon steel combined with soft iron), a hallmark of Japanese tool-making that ensures incredible sharpness and durability. Some blades feature maker marks. The bodies (Dai) are crafted from durable Japanese Oak.
Brand / Artist:
Japanese Blacksmiths (Various). These tools represent the high standard of Meiji to Showa era tool-making, where each blade was hand-hammered by skilled smiths.
