Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Septarian concretion specimen from Belgium, dating to the Paleogene Eocene (56–33.9 million years ago), prepared by cutting to reveal its characteristic mosaic of calcite/aragonite-filled segments, in natural/original condition, weighing 9.5 kg and measuring 39 cm high, 32 cm wide, and 13 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Impressive septarian nodule ('Septaria') with striking, natural cracking (museum-quality). This geological specimen formed millions of years ago through the shrinkage of clay-rich sediment, creating characteristic polygonal cracks that later filled with minerals.
The present piece has been cut and prepared so that the typical structure is excellently visible: a network of irregular segments with contrasting coloration. The light to beige-yellow areas consist predominantly of a limestone matrix, while the darker lines and fillings represent mineral deposits (often calcite or aragonite).
The surface displays a particularly decorative, almost mosaic-like appearance and makes this specimen an exceptional collectible as well as an attractive focal point for any display cabinet or home decor.
