Description from the seller
Clase Azul is a family-owned tequila producer based in the small village of Santa Maria Canchesda in Los Altos, in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.
The exclusive artisanal tequila is made from blue agave that grows in the highlands for nine to twelve years before being harvested by hand. The agave is then baked whole in old brick ovens for 72-80 hours. The baked agave is then crushed and fermented with natural yeast. After fermentation, double distillation takes place in a copper pot.
Clase Azul Ultra Añejo is the premium tequila in the range and is aged for five years in sherry barrels to obtain its deep red-brown color and silky character. The taste is extremely balanced and elegant, with light notes of spices such as cinnamon and vanilla, and a long elegant finish of candied Macadamia nuts.
The collaboration with and respect for the indigenous Mazahuas, and their ancient tradition of ceramics and painting techniques, has given Clase Azul its distinctive bottles. Each bottle takes 11 days to make and since all bottles are shaped and painted entirely by hand, each bottle is completely unique.
For the exclusive Clase Azul Ultra Añejos, the bottle is painted with platinum, silver and 24 carat gold.
