Description from the seller
Car from Bremen.
Borgward The Compendium. - Kaak, U. Geramond Verlag 2012. 160 pages, numerous illustrations in color and b/w. German text, hardcover with dust jacket. Like-new copy. --The name Borgward stands for an exciting chapter of German automotive and economic history. The exclusively illustrated compendium traces the history of the Bremen-based conglomerate, its brands and its founder Carl F.W. Borgward. It tells of his role in World War II, introduces the legendary Isabella, the Goliath and Lloyd cars, and covers the other projects of the controversial entrepreneur. Multifaceted and highly informative.
Borgward Automobile 1949 - 1961. - Roland M-P. Schrader Verlag 2001. 95 pages, German text with numerous illustrations (mostly in b/w), color-illustrated glossy hardcover. Schrader-Motor-Chronik #105. 20 x 21 cm.--The charm of the charming Hanseatin is also reflected in the advertisements and promotional materials, the brochures and sales catalogs, which are presented afresh in this Schrader Motor Chronicle. But not only that: alongside the coquettish Isabella and its sister in the Cabrio bikini, the stiff-limbed Hansa types and the suit-clad limousines are also featured. The arc spans from the first postwar Hansa to the great Borgward, with which the captains of the economic miracle were to be delighted. Yet precisely with this large flagship Borgward ran aground and sank—and with it the elegant Isabella. What remains are the pictures and brochures—which appear here once more.
The Path to the Borgward Isabella Unknowns from the test department. - Heinrich Völker. Edition B6. Autos aus Bremen Series 4. Edited by Peter Kurze 2000. 256 pages with numerous illustrations. Hardcover 30.5 x 21.5 cm. Rare edition! ISBN 9783980697743.
-- The author "Heinrich Völker" was one of the midwives of the Isabella. He was among those responsible for the advanced braking system and the further development of steering, for the development of the front-engine truck B 611 and for the air suspension on the GREAT BORGWARD (P 100). Expressions of his creativity are patents for air suspension.... in 2000 his extensive work The Path to the BORGWARD Isabella appeared. A comparable book does not exist in Germany, because Völker, from the perspective of a witness and engineer, describes an important part of technical history precisely. The success encouraged him to write another work "The Racing Cars of the Borgward Works" .... Citroën fans had become familiar with Heinrich Völker through his book "The Path to the BORGWARD Isabella". In it he describes how Borgward once disassembled a Citroën DS for testing down to the last screw. Thus valuable insights for the development of the first German passenger car with air suspension – the Borgward P100 – were gained...." (SW: Auto Automobil Automobile Cars PKW Passenger car LKW Trucks etc.)
Spurensuche: Autoindustrie Bremen. Borgward, Goliath und Lloyd- Kurze, Peter. Edition B6 Autos aus Bremen, Band 5. Edited by Peter Kurze 2001. 96 pages, hardcover 305 x 21.5 cm. ISBN 9783980697750 --This book shows, using more than 300 photos, the factory halls, the design offices and the doorkeeper lodges. It juxtaposes the past with the present and documents the positive development, but also the demolition. For example: Hall 12 on the former Hansa-Lloyd- or Goliath-site in Hastedt: 1. destruction by air bombs (1945) 2. reconstruction, economic miracle and vehicle production (1953) 3. use and decline (1997) 4. destruction by art vandals (1998)
