For sale is a handwritten recipe book from the year 1862. This manuscript is an authentic document of the refined bourgeois cuisine of the 19th century and stands out for its completeness and superb preservation.
Details on content and condition:
• Completeness: The book comprises 66 pages, described from the first to the last page without gaps, in very clean, even Kurrent script.
• Dating: Clearly dated on the cover: "Cookbook crafted in the year 1862".
• Odor & storage: The book is absolutely odorless. There are no unpleasant smells of moisture, mold, or damp cellar storage. It has been stored very dry and clean over the decades.
• Paper quality: The pages are sturdy and not brittle. It shows a natural, age-appropriate patina. Occasional yellowish discolorations (foxing) are present, which, for originals from this era, are considered an authenticity feature and do not impair readability in any way.
• Binding: The cover is firm, the binding is in a remarkably good condition for an age of over 160 years.
