Antique Caucasian Kazak rug "Eagle", ca. 1880 – 197×127 cm – natural colors

Rare Caucasian Kazak rug "Eagle" / Chelaberd, knotted in the Southern Caucasus circa 1870–1880.
The piece features the characteristic large "eagle" motif, geometric borders, and an intense color palette achieved with natural dyes (indigo, madder, ivory).

The weave is dense, the wool soft and lustrous.
The rug is authentic, not recolored and not heavily restored, a quality increasingly hard to find today.
