Overview
Magnificent three-fold, articulated fireplace spark guard/screen, made of brass and gilt bronze. The piece stands out for its fine black metal grille, which allows heat to pass while providing elegant protection, and its exquisite neoclassical-inspired ornamentation.
Artistic Details and Ornamentation
Central Body: Features a rich garland of flowers and leaves in applied bronze, suspended from two side rosettes, a classic symbol of the Louis XVI style.
Side Panels: Curved at the top (arch-shaped), each decorated with a relief motif of a torch or floral cornucopia.
Upper Finial: Crowns the central panel with an imposing cut‑out acanthus cup or blossom, adding height and a majestic silhouette to the piece.
Supports: Rests on elegant bun feet that guarantee stability and a slight elevation from the floor.
Condition: one of the supports is missing
Structure: The hinges function correctly, allowing the side panels to be adjusted to the width of the fireplace.
