Description from the seller
Dutch Art Deco Table Lamp with copper and fabric Shade, ca. 1925
A charming Dutch Art Deco table lamp, dating from around 1925. The lamp has a wonderfully elegant silhouette, with a slender dark base and a broad part copper/part fabric shade that gives the whole piece a slightly Viennese character.
The base is finely shaped, with a fluted stem rising from a decorative foot. The foot has a softly hexagonal outline with a beaded edge and curved, architectural planes leading into the central column.
The shade is especially different. Its wide dome shape gives the lamp a touch of Wiener Werkstätte feeling. The copper top can come off and not attached to the textile part.
The lower part of the shade retains its original internal frame and was probably re-upholstered around the 1970s, judging from the fabric in its present condition. It has a subtle woven pattern, finished with some decorative trim and a pleated lower edge. It is in good condition, with minor wear.
The lamp currently still works with its older wiring, but rewiring is recommended for safety before regular use.
A lovely atmospheric piece for a desk, side table, bedside table or reading corner.
Condition: good decorative condition, shade probably re-covered around the 1970s, original internal shade frame, older wiring present
Electrical: working, but rewiring recommended for safety. Uses two E27 bulbs
Dimensions:
Height: 50 cm / 19.7 in
Width at shade: 36 cm / 14.2 in
