Description from the seller
Beautiful, original and well-maintained Art Deco oak cabinet with a richly decorated door. Carvings on the door and other decorations give this cabinet a very luxurious appearance. In addition, there are two panes, both on the front and on the right side.
This type of wall cabinet is known as a display cabinet. Given the graceful details and the oak, this is specifically an antique piece, probably from the early 20th century (ca. 1900-1920). Thanks to the glass in the door and the compact form, these kinds of cabinets were often used as display cabinets in the hall or living room.
Made of oak, which is characteristic of solid Dutch antiques from that period. The cabinet is decorated with woodcarving along the bottom edges, the side of the door, and there is a striking bead around the glass. The hardware is also quite decorative, an authentic metal brass escutcheon plate and key. The key was included, but it closes the lock and cannot be opened anymore (so the key may not be original). Do you see the lock as decorative in nature and not usable. No shelf inside the cabinet. There is a slightly dark circle on the top. A few scratches on the glass. Otherwise the cabinet is very neat. Beautifulflame figure in the oak grain, visible in the photos. On the back of the cabinet you can see the maker’s pencil marks and you can tell the cabinet was stained long ago. Moreover there are two hanging eyes at the back.
Beautiful flower pattern carved from the wood. The combination of escutcheon plate and choice of ornamentation evokes Jugendstil. Notably, this cabinet has two panes, usually there is only one pane in the door.
Dimensions:
Height 52 cm
Depth 26 cm
Width 39 cm
Weight 6.3 kg
