Description from the seller
RUSSIAN BUKHARA RUG
Size 116 x 85 WITH AUTHENTICITY CERTIFICATE
The Bukhara rugs are among the most renowned and well-known worldwide. Their classic design, based on the repetition of 'gul' motifs arranged regularly across the field and enclosed by a frame rich with intricately decorated borders, is a splendid example of balance and harmony of shapes and decorations. We can place the Bukhara in a timeless dimension; their drawing pattern has remained almost unchanged for centuries, yet they remain current and highly adaptable to both modern and traditional interiors. The materials are a real jewel in the crown, in fact the wools of the Russian Bukhara are of unique softness and luster, making them bright and pleasant to the touch. The production of the Bukhara takes place over a rather wide geographical area, as the Turkmen tribes who knot them live across Turkestan (the former USSR), Afghanistan, and Iran. The Russians are certainly the most appreciated, also thanks to a particular washing process these are subjected to (Kiskan process), which makes them even softer and gives the colors a special patina.
